Corvallis, Oregon

Corvallis is a city in and the county seat of Benton County, Oregon, United States. The population was 54,462 at the 2010 census.

Corvallis was first settled by Joseph Avery in 1845. The settlement was named Marysville in 1849, likely after French fur trappers' name for a local peak, named for the Virgin Mary. The city's name was changed to Corvallis after the Latin "cor vallis," meaning "heart of the valley."

The city briefly served as territorial capital in 1855 until Salem was chosen as the permanent capital. Corvallis was incorporated as a city in 1857.

    The house was built about 1930 and housed the Delta Zeta sorority for many years, so it is very old and has been kept in relatively good condition considering. The Veggie House rooming house was established in 1998. I have been a tenant at the Veggie House for over a year now and find it a mostly welcoming and comfortable place to live. Rooms are private and the common space is spacious. The residents usually have some affiliation with Oregon State University. If residents are not vegetarian or vegan, they must be willing to respect those who are by complying to the strict vegetarian theme.
